2014 Hello Michael,You can easily transfer your current car to Grece. Then you have to make a TUV test (or smth else) and some VAG recoding on your veicle. I think that threre are shops specialised in modifying US specs cars.Eeither way you can just sell your cars and buy one here. Considering our road pavements I'll recomend Q5 3.0TDI. You'll be excited about fuel consumption

2014 HaHa. Here is the post in proper English... I am moving from USA to Bulgaria this summer and want to get a second hand diesel TDI. I have a 2000 B5 S4 and 2007 S6 5.2 v10 in the US (I just bought the S6 this January and was selling the S4 :-( ) I can still sell both cars in the U.S. or bring 1 to Sofia and use it to sell/trade for a good TDI. Can anyone tell me what to expect from the second-hand car market in Bulgaria? The car would be imported under a diplomatic visa, so a buyer would have to pay local taxes. But they are both old, so it might not be too much? I am also looking for suggestions for TDIs I should consider - model & years. I'm hoping to get something that is 2-4 years old, but we don't get any TDI models in the US so I am not familiar with the choices. I think we'll live somewhere near "Vitosha" and I hope to take frequent trips to Borovets/Bankso in the winter. Also, I'd prefer a manual, but an automatic/DSG will do. Thank you. Michael. 2014 Better with cash in your pockets than with hunderds of "What if?".I mean if possible sell them both in USA in order to avoid import formalities. Finally, having the cash in your pocket will be much easier to buy something appropriate. The market in Bulgaria is absolute shit and the only way not to be fooled is to buy a car from an official dealer - with all tech docs, service/maintenance hystory and confirmed mileage. mixofia 2014 mixofia, how much you looking for S6? The S6 would sell for maybe USD $24.000 in the US - how much in Sofia? Are cars just crazy expensive there? I just drove a new Q5 3.0 TDI S-line and I liked it very much. But it sells for USD $60.000 NEW and I see this BG 2011 Q5 TDI S-Line for 70.000 - is that EUR or BGN? If it was BGN then that is still USD $50.000 for 3 years old. msi200 Публикувано 24 Април 2014 Доклад Share Публикувано 24 Април 2014 I'd recommend that you sell the cars in the US. Much easier and you will get higher prices. The used car market in Bulgaria is nothing like the USA and most cars are with spun odometers and unknown history. And there are no laws prohibiting that. Also, buying used from an official dealer is not always safe. A foreigner will most probably get screwed, unless he/she has good connections.Generally, if you want to buy a nice car you either import from Germany(very easy) or buy from a friend. Since you've mentioned a diplomatic visa: I believe there are some heavy discounts for diplomatic car sales in the EU. BMW and Merc do that, not sure about Audi though. sky 2014 Yes, that's correct, but the dealer will arrange everything for you. Why do you want to have a diesel here? msi200 Публикувано 25 Април 2014 Доклад Share Публикувано 25 Април 2014 If you buy from Germany, make sure you buy the red number plates. The yellow ones will get you into trouble in Serbia, Hungary or Romania. The dealer in Germany will provide you with these plates at a small additional cost. Then you have to drive to Sofia, the fastest way is through Serbia, not Romania. There is a "vignette" system in Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. Serbia is with toll posts, and driving in Germany is free of charge:)

It will be our first time living in Europe. I hope we'll be able to do a lot of road trips throughout the area. Also our first time near a real ski mountain... Besides, I realize I rarely redline my gas engines - too worried about speeding tickets. BECKO Публикувано 25 Април 2014 Доклад Share Публикувано 25 Април 2014 (Редактирано) The distances in Europe are relatively low compared to USA... you will loose much more from the cars depreciation compared to the fuel economy Редактирано 25 Април 2014 от BECKO Адрес на коментара Сподели в други сайтове
2014 That's what I'm trying to figure out - depreciation vs. fuel. I'm still tempted to bring the S6 because I think I'll only lose US $1500-$2000/year in depreciation. But I will probably spend the same amount in extra in fuel costs. But are you saying TDIs depreciate faster than the petrol version? or are you saying buy a 2010 model that has already lost a lot from depreciation? Currently I'm looking at prices for 2010/2011 models - and they didn't bring TDIs to the US back then.
2014 Brand new cars are depreciated quite fast - the bigger the engine, the bigger the price drop is... mostly because of the fears for expensive repairs and expensive consumables If you are looking at the 3-years old the effect will not be that high... but going down from 5.2 V10 petrol to 3.0 V6 TDI is also a strange move for me
